Fetal Echo Cardiogram Update

So, I spent basically my entire morning on the telephone with doctors, NICU units, my insurance company, etc. It was quite a pain but I'll try to make this short.

I spoke to my doctor and she said that she agrees with the doctor I saw yesterday and would like me to get the test done. However, she said that she fully understands why I don't want to do the echo cardiogram at the same time as the ultrasound. She recognized that the ultrasound should be a fun occasion and that the echo cardiogram experience may not be as positive.

Her office was helpful about trying to find another location where I could do the test (besides going to downtown Baltimore). We were not able to find another location due to the limitations of my insurance. So, I will go to Johns Hopkins on November 10 for the fetal echo cardiogram.

The happy news is that we will get to (hopefully) learn the baby's gender on October 31 at 11AM!

Did you have to have surgery to fix the hole or did it close right away? One of my valves wasn't closed all the way when I was born but it did with in a day or so...they never mentioned anything special for Troy...

Angela, I was scheduled for surgery when I was 4 years old. But the hole healed up just days before surgery so I didn't end up having it! It seems like my doctor is just being paranoid, but I know I will feel terrible if the baby does have a heart problem and I never did the testing.

I cannot understand at all what you are going through right now, but I am wishing and hoping for the very best for you and this little one. I can't wait to hear the gender of your babe. I am so excited for you!

I'm so excited! I can't wait! Well, I can, but I don't want to! The last two babies born were boys (of friends of mine)so you can have whatever you're cooking in there. Like that ambiguosityness?
